Year 3

Welcome to Year 3's page all about the wonderful things that we get up to in 3C and 3S!

We have a great year with loads of brilliant things going on and are looking forward to another fun filled half term!

 Well done to our certificate winners this week!

 In Maths we have finished our unit on money. We solved multistep problems to work out change as well as amounts of money in coins.

In English we have been learning about verbs and how they are affected by the tense (past, present and future).

We are enjoying our topic on Anglo Saxons and started learning about Sutton Hoo this week. We had to look at the grave goods and decide who we thought the burial had been for. 

We are lucky enough to have a cricket coach teaching our PE for the next few weeks so make sure you have PE kit on a Monday. 

 Next week is assessment week so we will be completing a reading, grammar and two maths papers. These are all on topics that we have learned about this week so nothing to worry about!

We are also off on our trip to Colchester on Thursday. We need to make sure that we are wearing school uniform and appropriate shoes. Look out for pictures going up on the instagram! 

As part of our Science topic we have had a Science Day learning all about plants and the parts. We investigated the parts by dissecting flowers. We are running an experiment to see how water travels through a plant stem by using food colouring in the water. Hoepfully the petals will change colour!! Fingers crossed it works! Photos will be up later!

We have also planted runner beans and cress. We will monitor them over the next few weeks and then compare how they grow.
